Grade 7 ELA  We have just completed a read-aloud of an Iain Lawrence historical fiction novel entitled "The Convicts". It is set in 19th C. London and describes the adventures of a 14 year old boy, Tom Tin, wrongfully accused of murder, who is transported to Australia, as many convicts were in those days. The students will now be working on an independent novel study where they choose their own novel and do a variety of assignments and activities related to it.
